Sales & Service with Integrity Since 1990

It all started with the Amiga.

'Round about 1990, the Amiga was the hottest machine around.  Made by Commodore, it had 4,096 colors (whereas a PC of that day had, if you were lucky, AND if you had the bucks to shell out, a whopping 16), it had a graphical user interface (g.u.i., and yes, it's said like "gooey"), whereas on the PC you had DOS (don't get us wrong - DOS is a lovely thing, and quite useful), screaming sound capabilities, and was, all in all, relatively easy to use.  Think of the Amiga as a cross between the Mac and the PC.  Awesome graphics capabilities combined with the power of DOS.

Having grown tired of their dull daily routine, in the Summer of 1990, Will and Robin Rutherford hit upon an idea.  "Hey!" they said, a communal light bulb going on over their heads, "Why don't we open a store!"  Now, as we all know (at least, most of us do), life is not like the movies.  Opening up your own business is not like clicking your heels three times in a pair of pretty red shoes and repeating "There's no place like home".  It takes a lot of work, a lot of sweat, the occasional drop of blood (only when the hammer slips), and, yes, sometimes tears.  But after all that, the lucky ones make it work.

Robin and Will are two of the lucky ones.

Originally looking in North Seattle, a friend of Robin's turned them on to the growing Mill Creek area.  The real estate agent they were working with showed them a few places, but the price wasn't right.  The agent, after having shown them yet another space that was out of their price range, told them in an offhand remark to check out a place a few miles down the road in Bothell.  So they did.  It used to be a "Tan Cabana", complete with eight little tanning rooms.  Armed with power tools and pizza, Will and Robin, their close friend (and now full time technician) Charles, and Will's parents Nick and Mary, demolished, gutted, built, hammered, nailed, wired, painted, carpeted and stocked the new store.

Computer Concepts was born.

At first, they dealt in software for the Amiga, Atari ST, C64, Mac, and PC.  They also worked on hardware - mostly building PC's.  A year and a half after they opened, they got their "Amiga Dealer's License".   They were official.  They continued merrily on, selling the Amiga products, along with the occasional PC build.  Eventually, the Atari, Mac, and C64 software business fell away, leaving behind the Amiga and PC to carry on without them.

And carry on they did, and fairly well.  But as things are wont to do in the technology field, the times were a'changin', and right quick too.   The PC was quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with, while internal struggles were tearing Commodore apart.  Amiga users were slowly (and for many, reluctantly) moving over to the PC platform.  While they continued to support the Amiga, PC software and hardware quietly became their bread and butter.

And so here they are, more than ten years later.  They custom build PC's, perform upgrades and repairs on existing units, offer internet service through "conceptsnet.com", and continue to offer customers the latest in new and used game software.
